Like any other structured document, an EDD can be represented as an XML or SGML document. Saving an EDD to a markup language creates a text file that has the following benefits:

Text Structure Consulting, Inc., provides an SGML application for representing EDDs in SGML. This application is available in directory http://www.txstruct.com/EDD2SGML which contains:
EDDapp.fm
Documentation of the application
edd.dcl
The SGML declaration
edd.dtd
The main DTD entity
edd.rw
Read/write rules
rename.rw
An include file used by edd.rw
eddwent.dtd
Another DTD entity
sgmlapps.fm
The SGML application file
EDD-SGML.zip
A zip file containing all the above files

This application is based on an earlier version of the Text Structure Consulting, Inc. metatemplate and has not yet been updated to XML or to FrameMaker 7.0. An update is expected soon; contact info@txstruct.com for status.
