Formatting Structured Documents (streamlined version)
2-day course
Like the full version of the Formatting Structured
Documents class, the streamlined version is intended for
application developers who are implementing structured templates as
well as end users who must occasionally override the automatic
formatting of a structured document. Topics addressed include:
- Use of templates
- Page layout
- Paragraph formats (styles)
- Character formats for text ranges within a paragraph
- Cross-reference formats
- Tables
- Graphics
- Variables
- Markers
- Generated files such as tables of content and indices
While the streamlined course mentions how techniques learned are
applied in both structured and unstructured documents, it avoids
complete descriptions and exercises in both environments. Since it
reduces this redundancy, makes some topics optional, and eliminates
some details in others, the streamlined course can be completed in 2
days of instruction instead of the 3 days required for the fuller
version.
