Applying Master Pages

FrameMaker 7.0 introduces the ability to apply master pages automatically based on the paragraphs and container elements that appear on the page. Text Structure Consulting, Inc., and Tassos Anastasiou jointly offer an alternative to the FrameMaker 7.0 functionality for structured documents. This plug-in increases the FrameMaker 7.0 capability by allowing master pages to be selected:

• By all other types of elements (tables, graphics, footnotes, etc.) as well as containers
• By elements occurring within a table title or table cells
• For the last page of an element
• For all pages of an element ("span pages" in the FrameMaker 7.0 capability refers to all pages spanned by the first paragraph in the element rather than to all pages spanned by the entire element).

Possible future enhancements include:

• Selecting master pages for structures that fit on a single page
• Selecting master pages for body pages that contain no text in body page text frames

A FrameMaker+SGML 6.0 version is currently available and a FrameMaker 7.0 version is expected.
